Dialed to eleven: Lady Raider offense amps up at Warren
S
The Coffee County Lady Raiders served up another goose egg in district play on Friday evening, keeping home plate clean with a season sweep of the Lady Pioneers, 11-0.
It is the eighth time this season that the Lady Raiders have scored in double digits, but through the first three innings, it looked as if points were going to be hard to come by.
However, in the top of the fourth inning, a human wrecking ball, otherwise known as Paisley Campbell, knocked down the dam that was the Lady Pioneer defense with her sixth home run hit of the season.
From there, the Lady Raiders flooded home plate with a pair of two-run singles by Taylor McBride and Kyndal Bolden, then Campbell cycled back through the lineup to hit a two-run single of her own. Savannah Cooper would cap off the eight-run barrage by batting in a run with a line drive single, and with what seemed like the blink of an eye, Coffee County had compiled an 8-0 lead.
The Lady Raiders tacked on three more runs in the top of the fifth inning, two of which came courtesy of a double by Campbell, and the Lady Raiders completed a five-inning mercy rule victory, 11-0.
Lily Norman collected her second win in as many nights and her 12th win of the season with a four-inning, six strikeout performance in the circle. Maddi Scott pitched one inning in relief and recorded three strikeouts.
With the victory, the Lady Raiders not only picked up their ninth shutout win of the season, but also moved to 18-9 on the year with a 6-1 mark against 4A District 9 opponents.
