CCCHS soccer falls short of District Title match
S
The Red Raiders defended their home pitch well against Lincoln County in the District Quarterfinals, but a road loss at Shelbyville brought a premature end to the 2025 season.
May 5 Vs Lincoln County
In the District Quarterfinals, the Red Raiders played host to the Lincoln County Falcons, a team that Coffee County swept during the regular season by scores of 1-0 and 7-0.
The third and most recent meeting between the two teams would be of the low-scoring variety.
Trey Caron opened the scoring 15 minutes into the match and at the conclusion of the first 40 minutes, the score remained 1-0 in favor of the Red Raiders.
Coffee County’s one-goal lead ballooned to two in the 64th minute when Manny Gonzales ripped a left-footed shot past the Falcons’ defense and into the bottom right corner of the goal.
For the final 16 minutes, the Falcons kept pushing for some kind of answer on offense, but nothing came to fruition and the Red Raiders held on for a 2-0 victory.
May 6 at Shelbyville
The very next night, the Red Raiders travelled to Shelbyville for the District Semifinals hoping to avenge their 2-0 loss to the Golden Eagles in last year’s District Championship.
However, retaliation would not be the name of the game on Tuesday night, only repetition in the form of another 2-0 victory for Shelbyville Central.
With the loss, the Red Raiders end the 2025 campaign with seven wins, five losses and three draws.
