Twin-engine plane crashes near Beechcraft Museum

A twin-engine propeller airplane has crashed in Tullahoma near the Beechcraft Museum with 20 people on board.    

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, first responders are responding Sunday, June 8 to reported plane crash on Old Shelbyville Road.

Early information suggests there were approximately 16 to 20 people on board.

Several have been flown by medical helicopter to surrounding hospitals, and others are being evaluated on scene.

This remains an active and developing situation. Tullahoma first responders and Coffee County EMS are leading response efforts.

THP asks residents to avoid the area to allow emergency crews room to operate safely. They will share more updates as information becomes publicly available.

Tullahoma Community Engagement Officer Lyle Russell sent the following statement: 

 

“At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, a plane crash occurred at Tullahoma Regional Airport. There were no casualties. There are some minor injuries. The scene is being secured by local authorities while FAA officials are en route to continue the investigation.”

In a later update, Russell confirmed the total number of passengers aboard, including the crew, was 20.

“Of those, three were sent for medical treatment via helicopter and one sent by ground transport for more serious injuries to local hospitals. Other minor injuries were treated by first responders on scene.”

Russell also confirmed the plane involved was a skydiving plane, a DeHaviland DH-6 Twin Otter.

“No ground facilities or airport facilities were damaged and there were no injuries were reported from the ground. The scene remains under investigation and we’ll have more for you soon.”

A press conference will be held later this evening from the Tullahoma Airport Terminal with more details.
