High School Golf: Raiders beat Lawrence County for second win

Jack Stowe again had the best individual effort in a Coffee County win at WillowBrook Golf Club on Monday, but teammates Noah Costello and Landon Collins weren’t far behind.

Stowe put up a score of 70 in the 18-hole game, besting a mark of 71 that he posted in Coffee County’s previous meet at WillowBrook back on Aug. 4.

Costello and Collins each finished one swing behind with a pair of 71’s, and Keller Hatfield carded an 80 to give the Red Raiders a team score of 292.

Carter Bell scored a 79, Levi Rossman recorded an 83, Rylan Melson tallied an 84 and Jaxon Phillips rounded out individual scoring for Coffee County with a 93.

Lawrence County finished 23 swings behind the Red Raiders with a team score of 315, their best four marks being a 73 from Dalton McCawley, a 78 from Hud Mattox, an 80 from Trestin Bullock and an 84 from Parker Ray.

Jack Moore carded an 86 and Tate Perry tallied an 88 in individual scoring for the Wildcats.

In the girls match, the top three for the Lady Raiders were also quite close.

Karaline Matthews put up the best individual score with a 101 and Karsyn Riddle scored a 103 for a Lady Raider team score of 204. Ella Arnold was only one stroke back with a 104, Madison Waller tallied a 114 and MacKenzie Ragland finished with a 133 to cap of individual scoring for the Lady Raiders.

Kylee Bennett was the only golfer to participate for Lawrence County, shooting a 115.

Coffee County golf will hold their next home meet against Tullahoma and Warren County on Monday, Aug. 18 at 1 p.m.
