PREP ROUNDUP: CCHS volleyball sweeps Lincoln, Nogodula sets single-game digs record

Make it a 3-0 start to the season for Coffee County volleyball.
Hosting Lincoln County Thursday, the Lady Raiders came out on top in three straight sets, winning by scores of 25-14, 25-22 and 25-21.
Adding to the victory was the defensive showing put on by freshman Jenslee Nogodula, who set a new single-game school record for digs with 22 over the course of the match.
Allysa Goon led the way in kills with seven total, just ahead of Danni Hillis and Hayleigh Harris with six each. Morgen Spears followed with four kills. Up next were Cailey Sturgill and Cara Newlin with two kills each. Nogodula and Carrington Saner each came away with one kill.
Andon Selvog led the team in aces with five total. Hillis, Goon and Taylor Brinkley all came away with two aces each. Spears and Nogodula both recorded a single ace.
Selvog posted nine assists, just ahead of Brinkley with eight. Spears was credited with three assists. Nogodula and Newlin both had one assist.
Saner took the top spot for blocks with six, finishing just ahead of Spears with five. Hillis recorded one block.
Additional digs came from Goon and Hillis with six each. Selvog followed with five, just ahead of Brinkley with four. Up next was Sturgill and Harris with three each.
Coffee County returns to action next week with a road match at Warren County Monday. Start time is set for 6 p.m.
High School Golf
CCHS takes down Lincoln, Franklin
The Coffee County golf team made the trip down to Pebble Creek Golf Club to face Lincoln County and Franklin County in a nine-hole competition Thursday. On the boys’ side, the Red Raiders posted a team score of 177, besting Franklin County’s 180 and Lincoln County’s 185.
The Lady Raiders followed this up with a win of their own, posting a 106 total to beat out Lincoln County’s 118 and Franklin County’s 135.
Boys’ scores included a 42 for Luke Lowe, a 44 for Blaine Bonner, a 45 for Gabriel Bonner and a 46 for Rylan Melson. The girls’ scores included a 52 for Karaline Matthews and a 54 for Karsyn Riddle.
Coffee County returns to the links Monday with another road trip, this time to McMinnville Country Club to face Warren County and Franklin County. The matchup is set to tee off at 1 p.m.
Middle School Volleyball
The Coffee County Middle School volleyball team came out on top in McMinnville Thursday evening, besting Warren County by a match score of 2-1.
The Lady Raiders will get back on the road Monday for a 5:30 p.m. match at Tullahoma.
Middle School Soccer
The Coffee County Middle School girls’ soccer team was held scoreless on the way to a 5-0 home loss to Battle Creek Thursday.
The Lady Raiders will look to bounce back on Monday with a 5:30 p.m. home match against Warren County.
