Coffee County volleyball got back in the win column Thursday evening.

Hosting Shelbyville following Tuesday’s five-set home loss to Lawrence County, the Lady Raiders overcame a slower start to pick up a straight-set, 3-0 match win over the Golden Eaglettes.

Furthermore, the victory gave the team’s class of 2026 members a victory on their senior night.

“We had to wear off senior night, everybody crying, including myself,” Coffee County coach Jon Spears said. “We had to shake that off. Once we got that shook off, that first set, we just started doing what we do.”

Shelbyville jumped out to an early lead in the first set, at one point leading Coffee County 14-8 before a time out was called. The Lady Raiders began to chip back into the set from there with an 8-1 scoring run to briefly take a 16-15 advantage.

The two teams kept right with one another from that point on and continued to trade leads before a 24-24 tie forced the set to continue with extra points. Coffee County ultimately came out on top, winning the first set 28-26.

The Lady Raiders carried that momentum into the second set, jumping out to a 9-1 lead to get things started. After taking a time out, the Golden Eaglettes were able to cut the deficit to 9-7, but Coffee County did not let them get any closer. The Lady Raiders eventually separated themselves once again, winning the set 25-13 to take a 2-0 match lead.

With their lead cut to 14-13, the Lady Raiders proceeded to take the next three points to build some space back up. Coffee County went on to take the set by score of 25-19 to complete the three-set sweep.
