New details have emerged regarding the death of Weakley County Deputy Derrick Bonham.

Police say an Ohio woman has been arrested in connection with the shooting.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says the deputy was shot Friday while responding to a “shots fired” call at a hotel in Martin.

Investigators say Deputy Bonham encountered Khristi Dawn Cunningham, 44, near a gas station when she allegedly pulled a weapon and fired. He later died at a local hospital.

Cunningham is charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond.
