First, talk a little about your background, whether that be within local government or in your professional career, and how it informs your ability to be a leader in your community.

I have been self employed my entire life, now retired. I have served in an elected capacity in Loudon County, county commission and school board. I have a lot of experience with county government.

What sets you apart from the candidates you’re currently running against, or makes you the best possible candidate for the seat you are pursuing?

My many years of experience in County government has provided me with the knowledge and ability to best represent my constituents.

In your opinion, what is the biggest issue facing the average Loudon County voter today, or the biggest issue facing your specific constituents?

Over-development. Fortunately, this county commission has successfully adopted some of the strongest residential development policies in the state to prevent Loudon County from being overrun by developers like has happened in Lenoir City and West Knoxville.

What’s your opinion on government spending, maybe highlighted by sectors of county operations the Commission could be spending more or less money on?

This county commission has passed extremely conservative budgets for years. We have cut waste without sacrificing county services. We have budget surpluses most every year to the point that we have built a nearly twenty million dollar fund balance. Loudon County is in the strongest financial position it has ever been in, and that we’re all proud of.

How do you plan to handle growth within this community, as Loudon County continues to see a spike in its population?

This commission has a long record of taking bold steps in controlling over development. We will continue to adopt policies, as we have been, that will manage the growth coming into Loudon County.
