Two incumbents, former Water directors pick up papers for aldermen

T wo incumbents and nine other Manchester residents have picked up qualifying petitions for the upcoming Aug. 6 General Election where three aldermen seats are up for grabs.

As of Feb. 23, three of those candidates have qualified to run: Alderman Thomas Crosslin and challengers Ben Laine and Holly McLaren.

FormerWaterandSewer Director and freshman County Commissioner Jeff Perry picked up papers to run on Feb. 12 and Former Interim Water and Sewer Department Director Dana Douglas picked up papers Feb. 13.

Manchester TN Forum moderator Harold “Rocky” Jones announced his intent to run with a series of posts across social media on Feb. 20. This would be Jones’ second run for alderman.

Incumbent Donny Parsley has picked up papers along with challengers Carlos Martin, Kevin Smith, Paul Thornton and Warren Walker.

Aldermen Parsley’s term expires this year as does Crosslin’s who was appointed by the Board in 2024 to fill the seat vacated by Mayor Joey Hobbs. Vice Mayor Mark Messick’s seat is the third alderman position to expire this year. Messick is not seeking re-election but is running as an Independent candidate for County Mayor.

The General Election will be Aug. 6. Partisan primaries for county primary races will be May 5.
