VFW to hold Memorial Day observances

Staff Report
Your Manchester Veterans of Foreign Wars All-American Post 10904 will host the annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 25, at 11 a.m. indoors at the Manchester Arts Center – 128 E. Main St.
Richard Claing, of Manchester’s VFW Post 10904, will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
There is no cost to attend. The public, especially students, are encouraged to attend and learn that freedom is not free; that a dear price has been paid; and that the liberties we enjoy should never be taken for granted.
Partnering with VFW, People’s Bank and Trust on Hillsboro Highway has dedicated its front lawn as a memorial display of crosses and Stars of David. Titled the “Solar Cross Project,” these symbolize the brave Americans who gave their all in defense of our nation and our freedoms; and are arranged just as they are at the National Cemetery in Normandy, France.
The display is inspiring by day and breathtaking at night, since they are solar-powered and light up in the dark. The Solar Cross Project will be on display from now through Memorial Day.
We hope you and your family make plans to not only view the memorial display, but attend the brief but fitting tribute to our nation’s fallen heroes.
