The Coffee County golf team opened its week with a home tri-match against Cannon County and Middle Tennessee Christian School at WillowBrook Golf Club Monday.

The Red Raiders took first place in the boys’ competition, posting a team score of 148 to lead the way. Middle Tennessee Christian followed with a team score of 170, while Cannon County rounded it out with a score of 181.

The Lady Raiders were the only girls’ team listed for the day and finished with a score of 87.

Carter Bell and Levi Rossman led the Coffee County boys’ team with scores of 36. Rylan Melson followed with a 37. Jaxon Phillips added a 39.

Karaline Matthews shot a 41 to lead the Lady Raiders. Up next was Karsyn Riddle with a 46.

MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL

Westwood 2, Unity 1

The Lady Rockets welcomed Unity for their second-to-last district match of the regular season Monday evening. It went the distance, but Westwood ultimately came out on top in three sets.

Trailing Unity late in the first set, the Lady Rockets came back to tie it at 21-21 before going up by one on the next point. Unity was able to tie the set once again at 22 apiece, but Westwood went on to win the next three points and take the first set 25-22.

Another close matchup followed in the second set, with Unity going on to win 25-21 to tie the match at 1-1.

The Lady Rockets were able to take care of business in the decisive third set, winning 15-9 to secure the match victory.

Westwood (11-4) remains at home to face off against Warren County this evening. Start time is set for 6 p.m.
