Emergency personnel have recovered the body of a 21-year-old man following reports April 10 of an unoccupied boat at Normandy Reservoir.
According to a statement by Sheriff Chad Partin, rescuers found the body of Ashton M. Matney of Lawrenceburg after an extensive search.
Matney came to Normandy Lake in Coffee County early this morning to scout out turkey hunting locations from the water, according to Partin.
The investigation is appears to be a boating accident from evidence of damage to the boat from striking a tree in the water. Matney was believed to have been ejected from the boat.
Coffee County Sheriff and TWRA are continuing to investigate and Matney’s body is being sent to Nashville for autopsy.
“I want to thank all those who responded and gave closure to this young man’s family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Matney family of Lawrence County,” Partin said.
