CCMS baseball routs Franklin County

The Coffee County Middle School baseball team closed out the first week of its season with a dominant road win Friday evening.

Taking on Franklin County for the second time in two days, the Red Raiders got on the board first and continued to push ahead from there on the way to a 13-1, five-inning victory.

Coffee County finished with 10 hits, led by Mason Floyd and Braxton Swack with three each. Tripp Trussler followed with two hits. Aiden McNeese and Cooper Melton each had one hit.

Swack led the team in RBI with three. Up next was Floyd with two. Trussler, McNeese and Bentley Ater had one RBI each.

Swack was Coffee County’s starting pitcher, striking out five and holding Franklin County to one run and four walks on the way to earning the win. Ater came on in Swack’s place in the bottom of the fifth inning, closing it out with one strikeout, one hit and one walk.

Coffee County (3-0) returns home to host Battle Creek Tuesday. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
