Man heads for the hills after giving fake name

He gave a fake name, then after thinking about it for a few minutes, took off running Jan. 27.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Owen Hooper said he was on patrol when he saw a Mercury Montego with a headlight out and stopped it in the Notchey Creek Church parking lot.
Hooper said there were three people in the car and he asked the driver if he there was anything illegal in the vehicle. The driver said no and agreed to a vehicle search.
While searching the car, Hooper said he found in the back seat a glass pipe with a burnt residue in it, something that can be used to smoke meth.
The passenger in the back seat gave the officer one name, but Hooper said he found a wallet in the back seat with a photo identity that said his name was actually Justin Ray McDaniel — something different than the man claimed.
Hooper said he went to check the name with dispatch, found McDaniel was his real name and he was wanted for violation of probation. While he was doing this, McDaniel reportedly decided to take off running.
Hooper gave chase and caught him without incident and brought him back to his patrol car.
McDaniel, 45, was charged with criminal impersonation, possession of drug paraphernalia and evading arrest.
