Bonnaroo goers at this year’s festival will be treated to a brand-new hangout spot in Centeroo where they can enjoy a refreshing drink amongst the festivities.
Bonnie Roo’s Broos and Sports Bar will offer a rustic, Bavarian inspired beer hall experience designed specifically for Bonnaroo.
“It will live in a large tent with an adjacent outdoor lounge, creating a shaded, communal spot to relax and recharge,” explained Bonnaroo Festival Director Shelby Goodsell.
“The area will feature more than 10 regional and national craft breweries, two large screens broadcasting sports and other entertainment throughout the weekend, and the perfect beer pairing… Spicy Pie, making it an ideal space to grab a slice, have a beer, watch a game, and hang out between sets.”
Spicy Pie is a long-time staple of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and offers “massive” New York-style pizza slices.
The new sports bar concept will also feature craft brews from local favorites like Common John Brewing Co. and Xul Beer Company out of Knoxville, as well as out-of-state offerings from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Athletic Brewing and others.
Bonnie Roo’s Broos is a combination of the original Broo’ers Festival concept that longtime Bonnaroo fans may remember and a strong response to the festival broadcasting major sporting events on site in recent years.
While the concept was always on the back burner, the recent change in location of another popular Bonnaroo staple presented the best timing to make it a reality.
“We’ve wanted to bring those ideas together for a while, but the right space hasn’t quite existed,” said Goodsell. “With the relocation of That Tent into the main venue field, this felt like the perfect opportunity to introduce a concept that really fits the footprint and energy of that area.
Goodsell noted that the goal of Bonnie Roo’s is to “spotlight great regional and national breweries while creating a lively, communal hangout inside the festival.” “It’s about trying something new, grabbing a slice from Spicy Pie, hanging out in the shade, and watching a game with fellow fans,” she said. “We want it to feel social, relaxed, and communal. Yet another way for people to connect during the festival beyond the music.”
