PREP ROUNDUP: CCHS golf wins, CCHS and CCMS volleyball fall Monday

The Coffee County boys’ and girls’ golf teams traveled to McMinnville Country Club Monday afternoon for a quad matchup with Warren County, Franklin County and Lincoln County.
Both the Red Raiders and Lady Raiders took the top spots in their respective team standings, with the boys posting a 317 and the girls finishing with a 211.
Remaining team standings on the boys’ side included Warren County in second with a 341, Franklin County in third with a 347 and Lincoln County rounding it out with a 407. The Lady Pioneers again followed with a second-place finish in the girls’ competition with a 228, followed by Lincoln County with a score of 247 and Franklin County with a 258.
Jack Stowe led the Coffee County boys with a round of 72. Jaxon Phillips followed with an 81. Landon Collins and Levi Rossman both carded 82s on the day.
On the girls’ side, Karaline Matthews led the way with 97. Up next was Karsyn Riddle with a 114.
The Coffee County boys’ B team also came out on top over Warren County’s B squad, finishing the afternoon with a 356 to best the Pioneers’ 373.
The Red Raiders’ scores included an 82 for Keller Hatfield, an 87 for Rylan Melson, a 93 for Dax Carney and a 94 for Luke Lowe.
Coffee County returns to the links Thursday afternoon for a road matchup against Columbia and Warren County at Columbia’s Stonybrook Golf Course. The teams will tee off at 4 p.m.
High School Volleyball
Lady Raiders falter at Warren, Nogodula breaks own digs record
Coffee County volleyball suffered its first loss of the 2025 season Monday, falling in five sets on the road at Warren County.
The Lady Raiders dropped both the first two sets by scores of 25-19, but rallied to win the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-22 each. Coffee County was unable to complete the comeback in the decisive fifth set, falling to the Lady Pioneers 15-7.
It was another career night for freshman libero Jenslee Nogodula, who broke her own single-game school digs record with 27 over the course of the match. Nogodula had previously set the school single-game digs record during last Thursday’s home match against Lincoln County, finishing the three-set sweep with 22.
Hayleigh Harris led the way in kills with nine, followed by Morgen Spears and Danni Hillis with seven each. Allysa Goon and Carrington Saner both added five kills. Cailey Sturgill recorded two kills, just ahead of Cara Newlin with one.
Spears, Hillis, Harris and Taylor Brinkley were each credited with one ace.
Spears led the team in blocks with four, just ahead of Saner with three. Up next was Sturgill with two blocks. Goon, Hillis and Newlin rounded it out with one each.
Brinkley took the top spot in assists with 11, just ahead of Andon Selvog’s 10. Nogodula posted four assists. Newlin came away with two and was followed by Spears with one.
Additional digs came from Selvog, who recorded 17. Harris notched 11 to finish just ahead of Brinkley with 10. Goon and Hillis were both credited with seven digs. Spears had two digs. Newlin finished with one.
Coffee County (3-1) will look to bounce back with a home match against Oakland at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Middle School Volleyball
The Coffee County Middle School volleyball team traveled to Tullahoma Monday evening, posting a 2-1 victory in the JV matchup but falling 2-1 in the varsity match.
The Lady Raiders return home to host Warren County at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
