Lady Raiders cage Lions, 4-0

The Coffee County Lady Raiders kept the Columbia Central Lady Lions in a tight enclosure on Thursday night, holding their district rivals scoreless in a 4-0 road victory.

After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Raiders would be the first team on the board with a score by Savannah Cooper, who reached home after the Columbia defense failed to catch a pop fly by Jalyn Moran.

The score remained unchanged for the next three innings, then in the top of the sixth, Taylor McBride completed a second trip to home plate for Coffee County on a sacrifice fly by Cara Newlin, giving the Lady raiders a 2-0 advantage.

Coffee County’s defense rattled off three quick outs in the bottom half of the sixth inning, then doubled their lead in the top of the seventh with Jalyn Moran scoring on a triple by Ella Arnold and Arnold reaching home on a single by Lily Norman.

Norman threw three strikeouts in the bottom half of the seventh inning, and the Lady Raiders held on for their eighth shutout win of the season, 4-0.
