Ups and downs: Red Raiders split Shelbyville, end week with loss to Tullahoma

The Coffee County Red Raiders collected their 11th win of the season with a road win over Shelbyville on Tuesday, but suffered their first two home losses of the season to the Golden Eagles on Wednesday and the Tullahoma Wildcats on Friday.

The Red Raiders began their two game series against the Golden Eagles with an 8-3 win in Shelbyville on Tuesday night.
Senior Cole Pippenger had a field day for the Red Raiders, going 4-for-4 at the plate, batting in three runs (two of which were scored on a rare inside-the-park home run in the top of the fifth inning), hitting his eighth double of the season and his second triple of the season, scoring three runs on the bases himself and picking up the win on the pitcher’s mound in his fourth start of the season.
Left fielder Matt Moore and first baseman Landon Abellana also had good nights at the plate with Moore knocking in two doubles and Abellana collecting his eighth double of the season.
Shelbyville’s offense piled up 14 hits to Coffee County’s eight, but the Red Raider defense held the Golden Eagles to just three runs.

April 2 Vs Shelbyville
On Wednesday night, the Red Raiders returned to Powers Field for a game that was originally scheduled for March 31, but was moved due to field conditions.
The rescheduled game would turn out to be the Red Raiders’ first home loss of the season in a 9-1 decision to the Golden Eagles.
Cole Pippenger would be the only player to reach home for Coffee County, scoring on a fly out by Blake Hillis in the bottom of the third inning. Pippenger also managed to hit his team-leading third double of the season, but ultimately, the Red Raiders could not find any answers offensively.
Junior Davis McKenzie, making his fourth start on the mound, suffered his first loss of the season after pitching over four innings and allowing nine runs on nine hits.

April 4 Vs Tullahoma
The home woes continued on Friday night in a tough 14-0 blowout loss to rival Tullahoma.
Coffee County could only manage a hit each from Blake Hillis, Colter Neel and Davis McKenzie on offense and Isaiah Deadman picked up his second loss of the season after pitching five innings on the mound.
Leiton Yancer, Kasen Shores and Chase Leonard each made a relief appearance and the entire Red Raider pitching core could only manage two strikeouts against a red-hot Wildcat offense.
