Magic Eight: Red Raiders extend winning streak

The Coffee County Red Raiders furthered their current winning streak to eight games following a season sweep of Loretto, a close home win over Central Magnet and two wins in the Rebel/Wildcat Classic.
March 18 Vs Loretto
The Red Raiders picked up their third home win of the season on Tuesday night with a dominant 11-1 victory over the Loretto Mustangs.
Coffee County outscored Loretto 6-1 over the first two innings, then poured on five more runs combined in the fourth and fifth innings to win in a five-inning mercy rule.
Colter Neel enjoyed a fantastic night at the plate, hitting a double in all three at-bats and batting in two runs. Cole Pippenger also had a solid night with the bat, going 2-for-4 and batting in three runners.
Davis McKenzie was credited with his second win in as many starts on the mound this season after pitching all five innings.

March 20 at Loretto
On Thursday evening, the Red Raiders completed a season sweep of the Mustangs with a narrow 9-8 win on the road.
The Red Raiders struck first in the top of the second inning and held a 1-0 lead through to the end of the fourth. From that point, Coffee County outscored Loretto 8-2 over the fifth and sixth innings combined to lead 9-2 entering the seventh.
The Mustangs rattled off six runs in the bottom of the final frame, but the Red Raiders held on for their fifth consecutive win of the season.

March 21 Vs Central Magnet
The very next night, the Red Raiders returned to Powers Field and rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning to win 8-7 over the Central Magnet Tigers.
Neither team would score until the third inning with the Tigers striking first in the top half and the Red Raiders quickly responding with a run of their own in the bottom half to knot the score at 1-1.
Nothing would change until the top of the sixth inning, as the Tigers exploded for six runs to take a commanding 7-1 lead, however, the Red Raiders were once again quick to respond, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, including a single by Landon Abellana that drove in the eventual game-winning run by Blake Hillis.
Coffee County would hold on in the seventh inning and win the game 8-7.

March 22 at Rebel/Wildcat Classic
On Saturday, the Red Raiders travelled to Winchester for the Rebel/Wildcat Classic hosted by Franklin County, playing two games.
In their first game against Forrest, the Red Raiders built a 5-2 lead after the first two innings, but the Rockets battled back to tie the score at 7-7 entering the bottom of the sixth inning.
For the second time in as many games, Landon Abellana’s bat drove in the game winning run, this time with a double that sent in Cole Pippenger and Matt Moore to put the Red Raiders back in front 9-7. The Red Raiders would score twice more in the bottom of the sixth inning and hold on to win 11-7.

For the second and final contest of the day, the Red Raiders faced off against host Franklin County.
The Red Raiders would score four times in the top of the fourth inning and beat the Rebels 6-2 for their eighth consecutive victory.
Davis McKenzie would get credit for his team-leading third win of the season on the mound after pitching 4.2 innings.
