Manchester merry and bright; Downtown Manchester Christmas Stroll return for third year

For a few hours on Friday evening, the Manchester City square was transformed into a snow winter wonderland for the Manchester Chamber of Commerce’s annual Downtown Manchester Christmas Stroll on Friday, Dec. 13.
The event is designed to promote small business and local shopping, according to Katie Anderson, the Chamber’s Director of Membership Engagement.
“Everybody’s got their windows all decorated and their stores and everything, and they’re open later hours to promote that last-minute Christmas shopping and things like that,” she explained last week in anticipation of the event. “Some of them do some sales and discounts and specials.”
“The takeaway definitely is community pulling together and supporting the local businesses during the holidays but also just coming together as a community and enjoying the season and spending time with family and friends,” says Anderson. “It’s a complete Hallmark moment.”
“Everybody wants a Hallmark moment so that’s what we’re trying to create: a Hallmark moment on the Square,” she added jokingly.
