CCMS Lady Raiders
The Coffee Middle Lady Raiders were looking for their 11th conference victory of the season and a season sweep of the Lady Trojans.
Points were hard to come by in the first half, as the Lady Raiders held the Lady Trojans without a field goal for a 13-1 lead through the first two quarters of play.
The Lady Raider offense would find some points in the second half, outscoring South 21-5 over the final two quarters to win 34-6.
“Sometimes you have to win ugly, and that’s how it was tonight,” said Lady Raider Coach David Vinson. “I was very proud of our effort in the second half, we shot the ball a little bit better, which allowed us to press and score more. Overall, I’m pleased with another CTC road win.”
The Lady Raiders improve to 14-0 on the season and 11-0 in conference play.
Box Score: Coffee County Lady Raiders (34) Jenslee Nogodula 9, Avery Pruitt 8, Kinsley Pruitt 7, Harper Crosslin 7, Brylyn McAdams 3
South Franklin Lady Trojans (6) Macie Davis 4, Chloe Cole 2.
CCMS Red Raiders
Meanwhile, the Red Raiders were looking to collect their ninth conference win of the season.
Each team scored seven points in the first quarter, but the Red Raiders were able to distance themselves in the second, outscoring South 18-10 to take a 25-17 halftime lead.
Coffee County’s defense ramped up in the second half, as the Red Raiders outscored the Trojans 13-4 in the third and 12-9 in the fourth to win the game 50-30.
“Early on, we were not only forcing some shots, but at the same time we had some easy ones that just wouldn’t fall,” said Red Raider Coach Jason Creek. “As the game progressed, we had some turnovers created in the press that gave us some easy buckets. We got smarter as the game went on and the boys did a much better job of distributing the ball and finding the open guy. On defense, we knew what we needed to do to take care of the other team and it was a good win.”
With the win over South, the Red Raiders improve to 12-2 overall and 9-2 in CTC play.
Box Score: Coffee County Red Raiders (50) Jaxon Pruitt 19, Jo Jordan 14, Ethan Arnold 8, Kanon Creek 5, Eli Morgan 2, William Shettleworth 2.
