CARTER

 Gerron Curtis Carter of Tullahoma passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024 at Elk River Health and Nursing Center at the age of 77. Mr. Carter was born in Tullahoma to the late Sidney and Oma Mae Towry Carter. During his life, Gerron served his country as a proud member of the United States Army, and worked as a homebuilder with his brother, Rex Carter. He was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed many hobbies over the years including barrel racing quarter horses, working on cars, farming, riding motorcycles, traveling, and reading. He also worked as a security guard at Nissan. Gerron will be remembered as a “jack-of-all-trades” with a servant’s heart, who was always willing to use his many talents to help out a friend or family member in need. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, and the many friends who became like family over the years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by two brothers, Max Carter and Rex Carter; and one sister, Mary Ella Ghea. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Ruth Collins Carter; one son, Jason Carter (Meredith); one daughter, Stephanie Fulcher (Jimmy); five grandchildren, Garrett Fulcher, Brice Fulcher, Madison Cooper (Peyton), Cameron Carter (Alissa), and Sarah Carter; two great-grandchildren, Grant and Harper Cooper; one brother, Eddie Carter (Brenda); one sister, Nelda Underwood; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.  Visitation for Mr. Carter were held on Monday, Oct. 7 at Kilgore Funeral Home. Funeral services took place Tuesday, Oct. 8 in the Kilgore Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Evan Owens officiating. Burial with military honors followed at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
