On Thursday night, the Westwood Rockets beat the Cannon County Lions 20-14 in overtime, punching their ticket to the DRVC Championship Game.
Westwood compiled a 14-0 lead before the fourth quarter, but the Lions bounced back to tie the game at 14-14 and send it into overtime.
The Rockets prevailed in the overtime period, winning 20-14.
Heading into the final week of the season, Community, Eagleville and Westwood were all tied for the second place spot in the standings.
While Westwood picked up their overtime win in Woodbury, Eagleville beat Community, leaving Westwood and Eagleville locked in a tie for the second seed.
However, with Westwood’s win over the Eagles back on Aug. 23, the Rockets get the tiebreaker, earning them a spot in the DRVC Championship Game with the top seed Fayetteville Tigers.
Westwood (5-2) will look to avenge their 36-0 season-opening road loss to Fayetteville (7-0) from Aug. 8 when they travel to Tiger Hill for the DRVC Championship Game, which is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m.
