Westwood claims DRVC Championship

S

On Thursday night, Sept. 26, the Westwood Rockets ended Fayetteville’s perfect season with a 20-14 upset of the Tigers, claiming the DRVC Title.

With the Championship win, Westwood scored a revenge win after losing to Fayetteville 36-0 in the opening game of the season back on Aug. 8.

The Championship win was also a big turnaround for the Rockets, who finished last in the DRVC last year with a winless record in conference play.

Five members of the Rockets were named to the DRVC All-Conference team: Kam Cooley, Brady Clem, Kingsley Miller, Hayes Shemwell and Kolton Strickland.

Westwood ends the 2024 campaign with a 6-2 overall record, and while their season may be over, the Rockets will be one of the handful of teams that will play a scrimmage at Nissan Stadium after the Titans-Colts game on Sunday, Oct. 13.

For those wishing to go to the Titans game and then see the Westwood Rockets in action, there are still tickets available at $45 when purchased through the WMS Football Booster Club.
