On Monday, the Westwood Lady Rockets picked up a two set win over Community on Eighth Grade Night while the Coffee Middle Lady Raiders won decisively at Cannon County.
Westwood Lady Rockets
The Lady Rockets played host to Community for Eighth Grade Night at Joel Vinson Gymnasium, and Westwood honored their 10 eighth grade players in a pre-game ceremony: Jayna Anderson, Kenzi Benedict, Zallona Dillard, Amelia Johnson, Sophia Phillips, Aaliyah Ransom, Hartley Thomas, Carter Trail, Ansley Walker and Adalyn Wild.
Westwood won the first set 25-19 and completed the sweep in the second set with a 25-20 win.
The JV squad fought hard in a three set battle, losing the first set 25-23, winning the second set 25-22 to tie things up, then falling in the third set 15-9.
The Lady Rockets improved to 7-3 with the win and will travel to Lewisburg on Wednesday, Sept. 11 with JV matches starting at 4:30 p.m.
CCMS Lady Raiders
After a long break, the Coffee Middle Lady Raiders picked up a big road win at Cannon County.
Coffee County dominated the first set, winning 25-2, then finished things off early in the second set, winning 25-15 for a 2-0 victory.
The JV squad also picked a win, winning the first set 25-18 and the second set 25-21.
Coffee County improved their season record to 9-1 and will travel to Community on Wednesday, Sept. 11 with JV action starting at 4:30 p.m.
