On Tuesday night, two of Coffee County Central’s sports teams suffered tough losses as the Lady Raider volleyball team lost in a three set sweep at Lawrence County and the Lady Raider soccer team lost to Columbia at home in a 9-0 decision.

The Coffee County Lady Raiders suffered their first loss of the season in a three set match against the Lawrence County Wildcats.

Lawrence County dominated the opening set, winning 25-12.

The Lady Raiders would make things closer in the second set, but the Wildcats would still take it 25-21.

The third set would be even closer with Coffee County trying their best to stay alive in the match, but Lawrence County completed the sweep with a 27-25 win.

Cara Newlin led the way in aces for Coffee County with two while Rylee Clark picked up 11 kills and Rileigh Russell had eight assists.

The Lady Raiders will return home to face Lincoln County on Thursday, Aug. 29 with JV action starting at 5 p.m.

The Lady Raider soccer team is still searching for their first win of the season after another tough loss on Tuesday night.

The visiting Columbia Central Lady Lions blanked Coffee County 9-0 at Raider Academy, putting the Lady Raider losing streak at four games to begin the season.

Coffee County will continue their search for victory when they play host to Tullahoma in the Coffee Cup on Thursday, Aug. 29 with JV action starting at 5 p.m.
