Coffee bests Westwood in local rivalry battle

The Coffee Middle Lady Raiders and Westwood Lady Rockets faced each other on Tuesday night at Joel Vinson Gymnasium with the Lady Raiders winning in a three set match.

In the varsity match, Coffee County won the first set 25-19 and Westwood took the second set 25-19 to force a third set.

The Lady Raiders would run away with it in the third set, winning 15-6 for the 2-1 match victory.

Meanwhile, things went a little differently in the JV match, with Westwood picking up a three set win.

The JV Lady Raiders would win the first set 25-16, but the Lady Rockets battled back by winning 25-19 in the second set and finishing things off in the third set 16-14.

The Coffee Middle Lady Raiders improved their season record to 8-0 while Westwood fell to 5-2.

Both teams will be in action on Wednesday, Aug. 28 with Coffee County playing host to Warren County with JV action starting at 5 p.m. while Westwood travels to Eagleville with JV action starting at 4:30 p.m.

Coffee County and Westwood will meet again on Thursday, Sept. 19 at Coffee County Middle School.
