PARKER
Mr. William “Bill” Robert Parker, age 77, of Hillsboro, passed from this life on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. Bill was born on June 6,1947 in Manchester, to his late parents Bryan Lee Parker and Ollie May Parker. He grew up on the family farm in Hillsboro. He attended Hillsboro Elementary School and Coffee County High School before graduating with an Agronomy degree from Tennessee Tech. In addition to farming as his main career, he worked for Bell South, Cumberland Mountain Sand, Wagner, AEDC, and 18 years at Batesville Casket prior to retirement. As a farmer with his father and brother Eddie, he focused on row crops, hay, and cattle. To those who knew him, he was a jack-of-all trades who could do, build, or fix just about anything. He often used his talents and time to help those around him. You might have also caught him at the metal scrap yard, a farm auction, or pawn shop, always looking for a deal. He never quite had enough time to do his favorite hobbies of fishing and arrowhead hunting. Bill still resided at that same family farm of his youth until the time of his death. He battled pancreatic cancer from Jan. 24, 2023, until his death at Alive Hospice on Aug. 24, 2024. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents Bryan Lee Parker and Ollie May Parker and by mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marvin and Ethel Hill. Mr. Parker is survived by his wife of 56 ½ years, Sandra Parker; son, Jason (Valerie) Parker; brother, Eddie (Teresa) Parker; sister, Jane (James) Cortner; sister-in-laws, Lula Long, Debbie Hill, and Catherine Hill; grandchildren, Ella Reed Parker and Corinne Parker; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 29, from noon until 3 p.m. at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, with funeral services following at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Central Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Hodge officiating. Burial will follow at Hillsboro Methodist Cemetery in Hillsboro. In lieu of flowers and food, memorial donations may be made to Alive Hospice Murfreesboro alivehospice.org, HOPE Lodge of Nashville, TN cancer.org , or Mother’s Milk Bank of Tennessee, milkbanktn.com.
