The Manchester Rotary Club has officially kicked off its new Rotary year with a members picnic Tuesday, July 9.

2023-2024 Rotary President Roxanne Patton was succeeded by incoming club President Marianne Myers.

Patton said she has enjoyed her time serving as president, and that Rotary was able to accomplish most of its goals for the year.

“We have welcomed several new members, had the first car show and have been more visible to the public,” she said. “Most of our accomplishments are due to the incoming president and her persistence, all our club needed was a little and that was Marianne Meyers.”

“I know Marianne is going to have as good of a year as I did,” Patton added.

Patton also wanted to thank Manchester Rotary for supporting her during her year as president.

“I just want to start and tell everybody that I am proud to be a Rotarian,” Myers said during the meeting. “I may not have been here very long, but when I delve into something it is because I believe in it and I put my whole heart in it.”

Myers, who joined the Manchester Rotary Club 18 months ago, said after retiring from her career, she wanted to continue to give back, but in her own community.

“Rotary aligned with my values and gave me the opportunity to continue my service to others,” she said.

Manchester Rotary expanded its community events during the past year, with Rotary Even Better events benefitting organizations like One Day of Hope and The Storehouse Food Pantry, as well as a new member mixer at Bean’s Creek Winery. The club also hosted its first Rotary Classic Car Show in June.

The club also awarded two scholarships for graduating seniors at Coffee County Central High School, distributed dictionaries to third grade students and continued its downtown holiday flag program.
