Lady Raiders beat Shelbyville in district finale

On Wednesday night, the CCCHS Lady Raiders beat Shelbyville Central 14-1 in their final district matchup of the regular season.

Coffee County would start the game with a bang, as Paisley Campbell fired a three-run home run to give the Lady Raiders an early 3-0 lead.

The Lady Raiders would continue to add to their lead in the second inning, with Kara Wheeler scoring on a sacrifice fly by Chesnie Cox and Madison Pruitt scoring on a wild pitch to make the score 5-0.

Coffee County would continue to pour it on, scoring four runs in the third inning and five runs in the fourth inning to pile up a 14-0 lead.

Shelbyville would get on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Lady Raiders held on for the win, 14-1.

Paisley Campbell would have three hits and four RBIs, including her first inning home run, Madison Pruitt had three hits and one RBI, Savannah Cooper had two hits and two RBIs, Kara Wheeler had one hit and two RBIs, Maggie Montgomery had one hit and one RBI, Chesnie Cox had two RBIs and Channah Gannon, along with Riley Phillips each had one hit for the Lady Raiders.

Haleigh Skipper would get the win in the circle, pitching five innings, allowing just one run on one hit and striking out seven batters on 57 pitches.

The game marked the end of a grueling stretch for the Lady Raiders in which they played 10 games in a span of nine days, going 5-5 in that span.

Coffee County is now 16-10 on the season, finishing district play with an 8-2 record.
