Lady Raiders beat Warren County in Sunday matinee

On Sunday, the Coffee Middle Lady Raiders beat Warren County 9-1 after scoring six runs in the fourth inning.

The Lady Pioneers would score the game’s first run in the top of the first inning, but the Lady Raiders would quickly answer in the bottom of the inning as Kenzie Shelton scored on a double by Briley Jernigan to tie the score at 1-1.

Neither team would score again until the bottom of the fourth inning as the Lady Raiders erupted for six runs, including a double by Allie Raines that drove in three, making the score 7-1.

Coffee County would score twice more in the bottom of the sixth inning and go on to win the game, 9-1.

Allie Raines had two hits and four RBIs, Briley Jernigan had three hits and two RBIs, Kenzie Shelton and Bailey Haile each had two hits and one RBI, Payton Thomas had one RBI and Genna Sadler had one hit for the Lady Raiders.

Briley Apicella would get the win in the circle, pitching in all seven innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out seven batters and walking one on 84 pitches.

The Coffee Middle Lady Raiders are now 8-2 on the season and have won five games in a row, averaging 9.2 runs a game while giving up 2.4 runs a game in that five game span.

Next up for the Lady Raiders will be a home game against Lincoln County on Monday, Apr. 15 at 5:00 pm.
