On Monday night, the CCCHS Red Raiders stumbled against Lincoln County, losing 15-1 at Powers Field.
Lincoln County would take the lead early, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning, then the Red Raiders scored in the bottom of the inning as a Nate Rutledge single caused the Falcons to commit an error, allowing Cole Pippenger to score and make it a 2-1 ball game.
The Falcons would score once more in the top of the second inning to make the score 3-1, then in the top of the third inning, Lincoln County blew the game apart, scoring seven runs that included a grand slam to take a commanding 10-1 lead.
The Red Raiders could not find a way to answer, and would lose the game 15-1 in a five-inning mercy rule.
Coffee County could only manage two hits in the ball game, with Nate Rutledge and Davis McKenzie registering one hit apiece.
Starting pitcher Timothy Henderson would be credited with the loss on the mound after pitching 2.1 innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits, committing five errors, striking out three batters and walking two on 66 pitches. Isaiah Deadman, Beau Murray and Matt Moore would all make a relief appearance.
The Coffee County Red Raiders will get another crack at Lincoln County in Fayetteville on Tuesday, Apr. 16 at 6:30 pm.
