Lady Raiders fall on the road to Columbia

The CCCHS Lady Raiders received their second district loss of the year after losing at Columbia 3-2 on Tuesday night.

After the first two innings went scoreless, the Lady Raiders would score the first run of the game in the top of the third inning as Kara Wheeler scored on a single by Ella Arnold to give Coffee County a 1-0 lead.

Columbia would then take the lead in the bottom of the third, as the Lions scored twice to make the score 2-1.

The Lady Raiders would tie the score in the top of the fifth inning, with Willow Carden scoring on another single by Arnold to make the score 2-2.

However, the Lions would score in the bottom of the fifth inning to retake the lead 3-2, and hold on for the win.

Willow Carden had four hits in four at-bats, Ella Arnold would have two hits and two RBIs and Savannah Cooper along with Maggie Montgomery each had one hit for the Lady Raiders.

Lily Norman would take the loss in the circle, pitching in six innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out five batters and walking three on 100 pitches.

The Lady Raiders will play their regular season district finale at Shelbyville Central on Wednesday, Apr. 24 at 7:00 pm.
