Red Raider comeback falls short at Tullahoma

On Friday night, the CCCHS Red Raiders lost on the road to Tullahoma after a late game comeback by Coffee County fell just short, 6-5.

The Wildcats would set the pace in the early going, scoring one run in each the first and second innings.

Tullahoma continued to control the game, pouring on another four runs in the next two innings to lead 6-0 through four innings of play.

Coffee County would get on the board in the top of the fifth inning, as Cole Pippenger homered on a fly ball to left field to make the score 6-1.

The Red Raiders would continue to trim the lead in the top of the sixth inning, as Trevor Jesse scored on a double by Trey Turner, cutting the Wildcat lead to 6-2.

Coffee County would erupt for three runs in the top of the seventh inning, but the late rally wouldn’t be enough and the Red Raiders lost, 6-5.

Nate Rutledge had two hits and one RBI, Cole Pippenger, Bird Fellers, Blake Hillis and Trey Turner each had one hit and one RBI and Colter Neel, Brady Daugherty and Davis McKenzie each had one hit for Coffee County.

Isaiah Deadman would get the loss on the mound, pitching three innings, allowing five runs on three hits and walking three batters on 51 pitches. Beau Murray would pitch one inning in relief, allowing just one run, striking out one batter and walking two on 21 pitches and Timothy Henderson pitched two innings, striking out three batters on 29 pitches.

The Red Raiders will play host to Tullahoma for the second game of the series on Saturday, Apr. 13 at 4:00 pm.
