Red Raiders defeat Tigers to advance to Area Championship Game

On Tuesday, the Coffee Middle Red Raiders beat the Whitthorne Tigers 12-5 to advance to the AA Area 6 Championship Game.
The Red Raiders would set the pace at the start, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning with Augie Lynch scoring on a single by Landyn Stiefel and Justus Frazier scoring on a wild pitch to give Coffee County an early 2-0 lead.
Coffee County continued to add on to their lead, scoring one run in the second inning and three runs in the third inning to pile up a 6-0 lead through three innings.
Whitthorne would get on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning, scoring two runs to make the score 6-2, but the Red Raiders doubled their score in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs to go up 12-2.
The Tigers would score three times in the top of the fifth inning, but the Red Raiders held on for the 12-5 win.
Landyn Stiefel would have two hits and three RBIs, Tanner Daugherty had two hits and one RBI, Jaxon Pruitt had one hit and three RBIs, Augie Lynch and Ethan Arnold each had one hit and one RBI and Rylan Abellana along with Hyatt Moss each had one RBI apiece for the Red Raiders.
Pruitt earned the win on the mound, pitching four innings, allowing five runs on six hits, striking out two batters and walking two on 83 pitches. Tanner Daugherty would pitch three innings in relief, striking two batters and walking three on 49 pitches.
The Red Raiders advance to the AA Area 6 Championship Game, which will be played at E.O. Coffman on Wednesday, May 1.
