Rockets win big over Hornets

The Westwood Rockets got back in the win column on Wednesday night with an 11-1 rout of Huntland.

After a scoreless first inning, the Rockets exploded for five runs in the second inning, with two of those runs coming from a Jaythan Finchum single and Westwood took a commanding 5-0 lead.

Huntland would get on the board in the third inning for the lone run of the game, and the Rockets would also add one to their lead to make the score 6-1.

The fourth inning would be scoreless, but the Rockets would score another five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, with two runs being scored on a Tucker Linzey double to make the score 8-1 and three runs being scored on a Mason Hastings single to end the game in a mercy rule, 11-1.

Tucker Linzey and Mason Hastings would each end up with two hits and three RBIs, Jaythan Finchum had two hits and two RBIs, CJ Chavis had two hits and an RBI, Davion Dycus had a hit and an RBI and Trey Sullivan would have one RBI.

Hasting got the win on the mound, allowing just one run on four hits and striking out five batters on 61 pitches.

The Rockets will be back home to face Liberty on Thursday, Mar. 21 at 5:30 pm.
