Lady Raiders beat Mount Juliet in first game of Warrior Classic

On Thursday night in Murfreesboro, the Coffee County Lady Raiders won their first game of the Warrior Classic over the Mount Juliet Lady Bears, 12-4.

The Lady Raiders would control the game right from the start, scoring four runs in the first two innings and lead the game 4-0 through three innings.

Mount Juliet would get on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth with a home run to make the score 4-1, but the Lady Raiders scored another two runs in the bottom of the fourth to lead 6-1 heading into the fifth inning.

The Lady Bears would score three runs in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 6-4, but the Lady Raiders exploded for six runs in the bottom of the inning, including two runs scored on a Kara Wheeler double and another two runs scored on a Willow Carden triple and the Lady Raiders went on to win, 12-4.

For the Lady Raiders, Paisley Campbell had three RBIs on one hit, Ella Arnold had two RBIs on three hits, Willow Carden had two RBIs on two hits, Kara Wheeler had two RBIs on one hit, Savannah Cooper had one RBI on three hits and Channah Gannon had one RBI.

Lilly Normand would get the win in the circle, pitching five innings, allowing four runs on five hits, striking out five batters and walking four on 88 pitches.

The Lady Raiders will continue in the Warrior Classic on Friday, Mar. 22 against Hunstsville at 12:00 pm and Gibbs at 2:00 pm.
