MCKENZIE
Mr. George Emery McKenzie, age 68, of Manchester, passed from this life surrounded by family Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at his residence. Mr. McKenzie was born in Silsbee, Texas, to his late parents Bennie McKenzie and Minnie Lois Scarbrough McKenzie. He worked in maintenance at Bridgestone for 40 years until his retirement. He and his wife, Pam, attended New Union Baptist Church. Mr. McKenzie enjoyed fishing, kayaking, camping, anything sports, and darts. He loved Tennessee football and Dallas Cowboys football. He was a kind-hearted person, a loving husband, had a heart of gold, loved telling jokes and enjoyed family gatherings. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, William McKenzie, Charles McKenzie, Vernon A. McKenzie, Linda S. McKenzie, Billie J. (BJ) McKenzie, and Bennie McKenzie Jr. Mr. McKenzie is survived by his wife of 17 years, Pam McKenzie; sons, Christopher McKenzie, Myron M. (Jessica) McKenzie, Billy Ray (Shannon) McKenzie, Bobby W. McKenzie; step sons, Jason B. (Joyce) Waller and Richard Austin (Mandy) Waller; sister, Carolyn J. McKenzie; niece, Crystal McKenzie; thirteen grandchildren, one great grandchild; best friend, Dickie Lee; dog, Janie; and sidekicks who will miss him dearly, Zac and Madison. Visitation was held Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 10, from noon until 1 p.m. at Central Funeral Home in Manchester. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Central Funeral Home with Mike Owens officiating. Burial followed at Shady Grove Cemetery in Morrison, TN.
