College Street, New Union place first in Elementary Championships.

On Saturday at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium, four different elementary schools were awarded basketball championships with College Street and New Union taking the gold.

Championships were awarded in two different divisions, the Silver Division, which consisted of the teams seeded 5-8 and the Gold Division, which featured the teams seeded 1-4.

After the semi finals on Dec. 2, the four teams in each division were whittled down to two.

In the Silver Division Girls Championship, the East Coffee Lady Warriors won over Deerfield, 13-8.

For the Boys Silver Division title, the Hillsboro Tigers were pitted against the North Coffee Chargers, with North taking the win, 34-19.

For the Girls Gold Division Championship, the New Union Lady Rebels defeated the North Coffee Lady Chargers, 34-24.

In the final game of the day, the College Street Cougars were pitted in a tightly contested matchup with the Westwood Eagles, with College Street picking up the win, 29-23 and winning the Gold Division Championship.
