Coffee County Swimming Teams place first in several events at Shelbyville

On Friday, Dec. 8, the swim teams of Coffee County, Westwood and Grace Academy participated in a meet at Shelbyville Recreational Center with several teams placing first in various events.

For Coffee Central, the Red Raiders placed first as team in both the men’s 200-meter medley relay and 400-meter freestyle relay, second overall in the women’s 400-meter freestyle relay and fifth overall (third in high school) in the women’s 200-meter medley relay.

Individually, the highest finishers for Coffee Central were Elsie Lazalier, who placed first in the women’s 100-meter breaststroke, Jack Stowe, who placed first in the men’s 200-meter individual medley and 100-meter freestyle, Corban Alvarado, who placed first in the men’s 100-meter butterfly and Jacob Bradley, who placed second overall (first in high school) in the men’s 100-meter backstroke.

As a team, Coffee Middle placed sixth overall (third in middle school) in the women’s 200-meter medley relay and fifth overall (third in middle school) in the women’s 200-meter freestyle relay.

Individually, the highest finishers for the Middle School Red Raiders were Kaden Strohm, who finished fifth overall (second in middle school) in the men’s 100-meter backstroke and Bianca Celedonio, who placed 23rd overall (seventh in middle school) in the women’s 50-meter freestyle.

For Westwood, the rockets placed third overall (second in middle school) in both the women’s 200-meter medley relay and 200-meter freestyle relay.

Individually, the highest finishers for Westwood were Avory Gilday, who placed first in the women’s 200-meter freestyle, Alex Dolack, who placed first in the men’s 100-meter breaststroke and 4th overall (first in middle school) in the 50-meter freestyle, Eli Shelton, who placed third overall (first in middle school) in the men’s 200-meter freestyle and Aiden Hayes, who placed fifth overall (first in middle school) in the men’s 100-meter freestyle.

Grace Academy high school placed first in the women’s 400-meter freestyle relay as a team and individually their best finishers were Addison Yates placed first in the women’s 50-meter freestyle, Bethany Ashburn placed first in the women’s 100-meter butterfly, Jaci Howlett, who placed second overall (first in high school) in the women’s 100-meter backstroke and Lachlan Hall, who placed seventh overall (fourth in high school) in the men’s 100-meter backstroke.

For Grace Middle, Alyssa Yates had the highest finish of third overall (first in middle school) in the women’s 100-meter freestyle.

Next up for Coffee County’s swim teams will be the Ensworth Middle School Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 9 and all teams will be back on Friday, Dec. 15 for Senior and Eight Grade Night.
