Westwood splits space race with Forrest

On Monday night, the Westwood Lady Rockets lost another one, while the boys racked up another win at Forrest.

The Lady Rockets of Westwood kept it close in the first quarter, as Forrest led 13-9.

The lead extended to seven for Forrest as they led 22-15 at the half.

The hometown Rockets then hit the afterburners in the third, outscoring Westwood 11-3 to lead 33-18 after three quarters before putting the game away, 39-23. 

Scoring for the Westwood Lady Rockets were Allison Russ and Zallona Dillard with eight points each, Amelia Johnson with three, Shaylee Meadows with two and Mia Ahlijah with one.

Meanwhile, the Westwood Rockets had themselves another dominant performance. 

The Westwood Rockets quickly raced out to a 12-4 first quarter lead, then scored 14 more to lead the Forrest Rockets 26-8 at the half.

Westwood piled it on in the third, scoring 17 points to Forrest’s eight to lead 43-16 after the third, before winning 46-20 for their eight consecutive win.

Scoring for the Westwood Rockets were Mason Troxler with 11 points, Zeke Jones with 10 points, Brady Christian and Isaiah Buchanan each with eight points, Caleb Hill with four, Bridger Gray and Hayse Shemwell with two each and Trenton Tanner with one.

Next up for Westwood Basketball will be a matchup with the Liberty Patriots at Liberty Middle School on Thursday, Nov. 16.
