Westwood spoils Liberty Homecoming

The Westwood Rockets and Lady Rockets both picked up wins on Thursday night at Liberty School for a season sweep of the Patriots and Lady Patriots.

The Lady Rockets fought hard to earn themselves another win.

After the first quarter, Westwood led narrowly, 12-11.

The Lady Rockets then outscored the Lady Patriots 8-4 in the second quarter to lead 20-15 at the half.

In the third quarter, Westwood took control, fueled by their intensity on defense, and led 35-24 after the third before winning the game 44-31.

Scoring for the Lady Rockets were Zallona Dillard with 19 points, Carter Trail with 11 points, Jerzee Ferrell with six, Allison Russ with five and Shaylee Meadows and Amelia Johnson each had a point.

The Westwood Rockets picked up yet another dominant win.

The Rockets went to work quickly, leading the Patriots 16-5 after the first quarter. 

A 21-point second quarter fueled the Rockets to 37-9 halftime lead. 

The Rockets kept it up in the third, with a 49-16 lead before the bench unit finished the game out for a 56-22 win.

Scoring for the Rockets were Caleb Hill with 15 points, Mason Troxler with 11 points, Brady Christian with 10 points, Isaiah Buchanan with six, Zane and Zeke Jones each had four, Bridger Gray had three, Luke Christian had two and Trey Sullivan had one point.

Next up for Westwood Basketball will be a cross-town matchup with the Coffee County Red Raiders at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium on Friday, Nov. 17.
