Coffee County Runners compete at State Championships

The Coffee County Red Raider Cross Country Team wasn’t able to compete as a team in the TSSAA State Championships on Thursday, however, four Red Raiders qualified as individuals.

In the girls race, Coffee had three runners competing; Kailee Rossman, Bailey Kitts and Chloe Hensiek.

The field consisted of 206 runners representing 52 high schools.

The 5000-meter race was won by Claire Stegall of Nolensville High School with a time of 16:56.32.

Finishing in 98th place, nearly three minutes from the winner was Rossman with a time of 20:55.63.

The next finisher for the Red Raiders was Kitts, who finished 136th and just over a minute behind Rossman with a time of 21:59.61.

The third and final finisher for the Red Raiders was Hensiek who finished 182nd with a time of 23:48.75.

Winning as a team in the event were Brentwood High School who had 92 points with Hardin Valley in second place with 136 points and Beech Senior High School in third place with 141 points.

In the boys event, 203 runners were representing 52 high schools.

The lone runner representing Coffee County in the boys 5000 meter race was Cayden Miller.

The race was won by Miles Ramer of Ravenwood High School with a time of 15:00.75.

Miller finished 149th for the Red Raiders with a time of 18:08.53.

As a team, Farragut high school placed first with 41 points, Brentwood placed second with 67 points and Independence placed third with 131 points.
