CCMS Wrestling opens season with win

The Red Raider wrestling team, entering their second season as a program, picked up its first win of the season after beating St. Andrews Sewanee on Thursday, Oct. 26.
Leading the way for the Red Raiders was Kolton Strickland, who had three takedowns and a pin to score a total of six points and another six for his team.
Marcus Jaiden Uselton also had six points with a five second near fall, a takedown and an escape, but couldn’t score any for his team as he was pinned down by his opponent.
Jesse Lester was able to score a takedown and a pin to give his team another six points, and Luke Warrick was able to score an escape point but he didn’t fare too well against his opponent, who was able to score 10 points before pinning Warrick.
Also scoring six team points each for the Red Raiders by way of forfeit were Archer Rolfson, Tripp Trussler, Andrew Boles, Toccoa Gaines, Landon Carson, William Barlow, Alyssa Ash and Caden Harris.
Overall, Coffee County was able to outscore Sewanee 60-24 and win the meet.
The next wrestling meet for Coffee County Middle School will be at home on Thursday, Nov. 2 when they play host to Cascade, Whitwell and Tullahoma.
