CCMS Basketball Regular Season Debriefing

With the CTC Tournament being canceled due to the winter weather, it gives us time to go back and break down the 2023-24 regular season for the Middle School Lady Raiders and Red Raiders and look at some stats.
Coffee Middle Lady Raiders
The Coffee County Middle School Lady Raiders finished the regular season 20-0 overall and 10-0 in conference play.
At home, the Lady Raiders finished 9-0 and replicated that mark on the road as well.
In their two neutral site games against Westwood at The Patch, the Lady Raiders went 2-0.
On the offensive side, the Lady Raiders scored 48.3 points per game as a team with their best scoring output coming in their Oct. 26 matchup against East Tullahoma, where they scored 64 points against the Lady Panthers.
The least amount of points the Lady Raiders scored in a game this year was 34 points in their Nov. 6 contest at Warren County.
On defense, the Lady Raiders gave up just 21.6 points a game, with their best performance coming against South Franklin on Nov. 9, where they gave up just a singular point to the Lady Trojans in a 50-1 victory.
The most points allowed in a game by the Lady Raiders this season was on Dec. 18 at Stewarts Creek, where they gave up 34 points in their win over the Red Hawks.
The average margin of victory for the Lady Raiders this season was 26.7 points with their biggest win coming in the previously mentioned Oct. 26 game against East, where they won by 50 points, 64-14.
The closest win for the Lady Raiders was, again, their Nov. 6 game at Warren County, where the Lady Raiders won, 34-31.
For the Lady Raiders, two players averaged double digits in points, with Addalyn Clark leading the charge at 13 points per game, and Hayleigh Harris, who averaged 11.8 points per game.
Harris led the team in scoring in seven games this season with Clark leading the way in six contests, and the two of them sharing the team lead in two games.
Jenslee Nogodula also had a great year in scoring, averaging 8.9 points per game and leading the team in scoring in four games this season.
The best single game scoring performance for the Lady Raiders this season was a 26-point game by Addalyn Clark on her birthday, in the Nov. 13 contest against North Franklin.
Coffee Middle Red Raiders
The Red Raiders couldn’t quite replicate the success of their compatriots.
In the regular season, the Red Raiders went 8-12 overall, but finished 8-2 in conference play.
At home, the Red Raiders went 4-5 and had the same record away from home as well.
In their two neutral site matchups against Westwood, the Red Raiders went 0-2.
On offense, the Red Raiders averaged 31.5 points a game with their highest output being 48 points in a 48-32 win over South Franklin on Jan. 4.
The lowest scoring game for the Red Raiders came in their first outing of the season against Westwood on Oct. 23, where they could only manage 12 points in a 38-12 loss to the Rockets.
On the defensive side of things, the Red Raiders gave up 33.4 points a game, with their best defensive performance coming against East Tullahoma on Oct. 26, where the Red Raiders gave up just 10 points in a 29-10 win.
In their Nov. 6 game at Warren County, the Red Raiders gave up a season high 52 points in a 52-39 loss.
The biggest margin of victory for the Red Raiders was 34 points in a 47-13 win against North Franklin on Nov. 13 and their biggest loss came at the hands of Cannon County on Dec. 14, where the Red Raiders lost, 46-21.
The leading scorer for the Red Raiders this season was Jaxon Pruitt, who averaged 8.8 points per game, and led the team in 10 games this season.
However, the best single game scoring performance for the Red Raiders this season came from Landyn Stiefel, who scored 18 points in a 36-27 win over Tullahoma West on Nov. 2.
With the regular season completed and the CTC Tournament being canceled, the Coffee County Middle School Basketball Teams now set their sights on the AA Area 6 Tournament, with the Red Raiders going up against Harris on Monday, Jan. 22 at 6:00 pm, and the Lady Raiders facing the winner of Warren/Lewisburg on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 6:00 pm.
The tournament will be taking place at Coffee County Middle School with coverage being available on manchestertimes.com following the games.
