Red Raiders drop road game at Lewisburg

On Monday, the Coffee Middle Red Raiders led late, but lost in a heartbreaker at Lewisburg, 9-8.
The lead changed hands a couple of times in the first half of the game, with the visiting Red Raiders taking the early 1-0 lead after the first inning, then the Tigers scored two runs in the second inning to lead 2-1.
Coffee County answered with three runs in the third, with two of them being scored on a Mason Floyd single to give the Red Raiders a 4-2 lead heading into the fourth inning, where Lewisburg answered with two runs to tie the score at 4-4.
The Red Raiders would outscore Lewisburg 4-1 in the next two and a half innings, leading the game 8-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning.
Lewisburg would then erupt for four runs in the bottom of the seventh, and win the game, 9-8 despite Coffee outhitting them 11-8.
Mason Floyd would finish the game with one hit and two RBIs, Kanon Creek and Landyn Stiefel each had two hits and one RBI, Warren Simmons and Tanner Daugherty would each register a hit and an RBI, Ethan Arnold had an RBI and Jaxon Pruitt and Rylan Abellana each had two hits.
Five pitchers appeared on the mound for Coffee County, with Daugherty bearing the brunt of the work, having pitched three innings, allowing three runs on three hits, striking out two batters and walking another two on 54 pitches.
The Red Raiders now fall to 3-4 on the season and will look to rebound at Warren County on Thursday, Mar. 21.
