On Friday, the Coffee County Lady Raiders beat the Huntsville Panthers 6-4, but lost to the Gibbs Eagles 4-1 in the Warrior Classic.

Coffee County Lady Raiders: 6, Huntsville Panthers: 4

Coffee’s first game of the day pitted them against Huntsville, and through the first inning, the game was scoreless.

The Lady Raiders would take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, with Madison Pruitt scoring on a Lily Norman ground out and Riley Phillips scoring on a Willow Carden single.

The Panthers would score two runs of their own in the third inning to tie things up at 2-2, but the Lady Raiders answered with two more runs in the fourth inning to retake the lead, 4-2.

Huntsville would tie the score once more in the top of the fifth inning at 4-4, but Coffee County scored another two runs on a single by Norman and went on to win the game, 6-4.

Willow Carden would finish the game with two RBIs on two hits, Lily Norman had three RBIs on one hit and Chesnie Cox had one RBI on two hits.

Norman would get the win in the circle, pitching five innings, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out four batters and walking three on 86 pitches.

The second game of the day wouldn’t quite go Coffee County’s way. 

After a scoreless first two innings, the Lady Raiders would score first with Willow Carden running home to give Coffee County a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning, but the Eagles scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 lead.

The Eagles would score another two runs in the fourth inning and go on to win the game, 4-1, handing Coffee County their first loss of the season.

Willow Carden, Savannah Cooper and Jalyn Moran would be the only ones to register a hit for Coffee County, and Katelyn Anderson would be credited with the loss in the circle, pitching six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and walking two batters on 77 pitches.

The Lady Raiders will play their final game in the Warrior Classic against DeKalb County on Saturday, Mar. 23 at 8:00 AM.
