Red Raider Soccer places first in division at Smoky Mountain Cup

On Saturday evening, the CCCHS Red Raiders beat Franklin Road Academy 2-1 for their third win in the Smoky Mountain Cup, placing first in the tournament’s Mount Love Division.
Isaac Simmons scored his first goal of the season to give Coffee County a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the game.
The Red Raiders would score again at the 25 minute mark, this time from Patrick Brown on a corner kick by Ethan Sloan. It would be Brown’s third goal of the year and the second assist of the season for Sloan, as Coffee County went into the halftime break up 2-0.
The Panthers would score in the 75th minute on a penalty kick to pull within one, but Coffee County and goalie Brayden Trail would hold on for the 2-1 victory.
With three wins in the tournament, the Red Raiders placed first in the Mount Love Division with nine points.
Coffee County is now 5-0-2 on the year and they will look to keep their undefeated start to the season going when they resume district play against Shelbyville Central on Tuesday, Apr. 9 at 7:00 pm.
