Red Raiders shutout Rebels in Saturday showdown

On Saturday afternoon, the CCCHS Red Raiders won on the road at Franklin County, 6-0.
After a scoreless first inning, the Red Raiders scored in the top of the second inning as Vaughn Parker scored on a line drive by Brendon Sheppard, giving Coffee County a 1-0 lead in the early going.
Coffee County would continue to add to their lead in the third inning, as Cole Pippenger scored on a passed ball and Nate Rutledge scored on a sacrifice fly from Colter Neel to up the Red Raider lead to 3-0.
The Red Raiders would score once more in the top of the fourth inning with Trey Turner scoring on a Brady Daugherty single, then score twice in the top of the fifth inning with Blake Hillis grounding out to send Nate Rutledge in for a score and Colter Neel scoring on a sacrifice bunt by Trey Turner.
Coffee County would hold on for the 6-0 win, outhitting the Rebels 10-0.
Colter Neel would finish with two hits and one RBI, Blake Hillis, Trey Turner and Brendon Sheppard each had one hit and one RBI, Cole Pippenger and Bird Fellers rattled off two hits apiece and Brady Daugherty had one hit for Coffee County.
Isaiah Deadman would get credit for the win on the mound, pitching in four innings and striking out three batters while walking four on 63 pitches. Beau Murray pitched three innings, striking out two batters and walking one on 31 pitches.
With the win, the Coffee County Red Raiders improved to 10-7-1 on the season, having won seven of their last nine games.
The Red Raiders will play at Spring Hill on Monday, Apr. 8 at 6:00 pm in the first game of a two game district series.
