Red Raiders shutout Rebels on Senior Night

On Friday night, the CCCHS Red Raiders celebrated Senior Night by beating the Franklin County Rebels 3-0 at Powers Field.

Before the game, eight senior members of the Red Raider Baseball Team were honored: Bird Fellers, Timothy Henderson, Brady Daugherty, Trey Turner, Brendon Sheppard, Nate Rutledge, Beau Murray and manager Cody Douglas.

The Red Raiders would strike first in the bottom of the first inning as Bird Fellers scored on a single by Blake Hillis to give the Red Raiders an early 1-0 lead.

No team could break through for a score in the next two innings, then Coffee County would add to their lead with Brady Daugherty scoring on a double by Brendon Sheppard in the bottom of the fourth inning and Fellers scoring on an error by the Rebel defense in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Red Raiders a 3-0 lead.

The Red Raiders would hold on for the win, outhitting Franklin County 6-1.

Blake Hillis and Brendon Sheppard each had two hits and one RBI and Bird Fellers, as well as Brady Daugherty each had one hit apiece for the Red Raiders.

Timothy Henderson would earn the win on the mound, pitching four innings, allowing one hit, striking out six batters and walking one on 52 pitches. Beau Murray would pitch one inning in relief and Nate Rutledge would get credit for a save, pitching two innings, striking out three batters and walking one on 27 pitches.

The Red Raiders finish the regular season with a 14-15-1 record and will continue their season in the district tournament next week.
